So I (19f) have never been in an actual monogamous relationship. Is this weird?
I’ve had plenty of few week-few month long stints of dating people and seeing people that I really like and want to be with but no one has ever actually wanted to be with me. It’s really disappointing. I’d like to think I’m fairly pretty and have a good personality. I don’t think I’m super clingy or anything in the relationships I’ve had. I’m very communicative and fairly caring.
I’ve dated quite a few guys that I date and have interest in and I make my wants and feelings well known and the guys I date for the most part tell me that the feelings are mutual. Then a few weeks and a few more dates/meet ups it’s like “oh you wanted a relationship? Yeah That’s not what I want” and it’s really disappointing. The guys I date are all fairly different and don’t really share any characteristics other than just not being interested in me lol. I’ve tried dating people my age, under 25s, then I tried dating people a bit older and that seemed to go better but in all when I eventually when I ask for monogamy and basic communication it’s like I’m asking for to much, and I’m not. I guess my question is, is this normal? I kind of just feel like I’ll never be in a real relationship let alone feel the “in love” experience. I continuously get disappointed and try to adjust my wants and expectations of people and I still just feel disappointed. I don’t want to be 40 and alone but so far I’ve just accepted that a relationship isn’t for me and no matter what I do I’ll just never be in one. Idk am I just over reacting? I’ve had these thoughts since I was like 16.
