21M need some advice on how to date

So I got out of an abusive relationship a few months ago it lasted 3 years. We were on the "talking" stage since high school and started dating a few weeks after I turned 18. I feel like a loser kind of. I live at my parents and help them while working on paying back school and I'm looking at a career in hospitality if the opportunity arises. So I'm not a bum by any means I'm just going through some rough times financially and I feel like it's a huge turn off that I live with my parents. I'm highly motivated to better myself though it's a long process. I don't know where to even meet people.i haven't been I guess for lack of a better term on the "dating scene" since high school so the problem that arises is I'm clueless on where to meet people. I don't like dating sites. They seem kinda shallow in my honest opinion and you judge someone based on a picture and a little paragraph. It also seems to perpetuate hook-up culture which I'm not here to judge it's just not for me. I would even try the long distance thing but I don't know how to really do that safely and build a relationship out of it. I look for something organic and starting off as friends instead of a date or two and we're dating. I'm also pretty introverted so my ideal dates aren't really a restaurant or out in public. It's more taking a hike or something along those lines. Another thing is a lot of my interests aren't attractive to women especially around where I live. I live in the rural south so me being nerdy isn't really appreciated here same with my music. I listen to goth and black metal and many people around here aren't comfortable with that.
