I'm starting to build an app that I hope to launch in the post-coronavirus world (whenever that may be…). The premise is pretty simple: instead of only putting forward a profile (pictures, bio, etc.) for others to swipe on, people on this app would put forward an actual date idea alongside their profile. I hope that this results in actual, real life connections as opposed to the monotony of conversations that often go nowhere.
For example, Joe creates a profile and drops a "pin" for his date idea (grab a bite and drinks; Main St. Bar; this Friday at 8pm). Potential romantic interests would see this date idea (either as a pin on a map or via "card view," like Tinder) and if they so choose, click into Joe's profile. Let's assume Jessica is interested and swipes right. Now, Joe gets a notification that Jessica is interested in his date and Joe chooses if he also swipes right on Jessica. If so, the app allows Joe and Jessica to chat, where they can get to know each other better, iron out details for the date (if needed), etc. Ideally, the fact that the "right swipe" was premised on an actual date idea means that the date is very likely to occur.
Would people be interested in this?
