I realized the main reason why I’m having such a hard time with dating/ finding a partner is dating is just not a priority for me. In fact, besides a few months of last year, it has never been one of my top priorities. I do not put enough effort into it because I have so much else going on. It’s like when you say you want to lose weight but because it’s not a priority for you, you never do because you don’t end up fully committing and instead quit your diet/ workout regimen quickly after getting discouraged. I go on dating apps once or twice a year, go on a few dates, and get quickly overwhelmed with messages or discouraged by getting ghosted, so I give up & focus on other things in life. My friends want me to experience a relationship like they get to, and that’s why they’re always giving me unsolicited advice/ pushing me to find someone. But until I either accept the fact that I have enough on my plate & don’t NEED to date right now, or push some things to the side in order to actually TRY my hand at dating, nothing will change. Like all things in life I think it takes intention and commitment. I should also stop feeling ashamed for being single when everyone else around me has someone because simply, my priorities are different right now.
Sorry if this is obvious to some, I just am realizing this at 26 lol.
TLDR: came to the realization that until I make dating one of my top priorities, I’ll be in the same single boat I’ve always been in.
