A short reflection on accepting rejection and what actually helps

Been working on my health and self lately. Those three words, "Health and Self" have been a sort of mantra that have really kept me (22m) doing better ever day for a couple of months.

Reading daily because I feel.invested in the book, starting a new growing plants hobby, improving in my work, recently been offered/convinced to do a PhD, restrictions are entirely lifting in my country which means I can go back to the climbing gym. I'm excited and feeling good for the most part.

I've been not seriously dating a couple of people here and there for the past year-ish but that's mostly been through tinder. I met a girl who was pretty exciting and I felt really attracted to through my new hobby and we got along pretty well, quick chat and exchanged contact info. And I asked her out. She had a boyfriend which I wasn't aware of. Even though it stings a little and I know I'm sad that the outcome didn't go my way, I'm happy with myself knowing I had the guts to ask her out on a date anyways. I mean good for her/her bf too if they're happy ay.

But at least I now know I'm entirely over my ex and back to asking people out again. I've grown and I'm more happy with myself – wouldn't say no to a set of abs and/or great arms magically appearing on me though.

If there's advice to give; honestly nothing helps more than time and REALLY focussing on your self for the sake of yourself and not for "that special someone that'll eventually show up". News flash, you need to get out and make it happen yourself, they're not going to show up out of the blue, and even then, you build a bond with someone, you and they are not perfect. Not much is going to help get you back to being your normal self other than realising those things and just going for it. Even your "normal" self is constantly evolving if you really want it to. That goes for everyone.
