I don't know if this is a rant to put it out there or I am looking for real advice…We will see where I get to by the end of this.
So a couple years ago I met someone who instantly knocked my socks off. Everything I look for in someone and just that amazing personality. We went out a few times and eventually she told me she was having a hard time because she was so fresh out of a relationship and that whole speech. Basically it was a soft letdown that she wasn't into me. However we kept hanging out and hooking up and doing really fun things in hopes she would eventually come around. We spent New Years together and she even came to a wedding with me. Of course I was being foolish though she had re-iterated a couple times she just wasn't wanting anything (secret code for "with you").
About like ten or eleven months later I had just gotten out of a relationship. I immediately had the urge to contact her because a month before my breakup she DMd me on Instagram saying she liked my Halloween costume. Anyways, we met up for coffee, chatted. I asked her out again and she just said it probably wasn't a good idea and that we should be friends.
Fast forward another six months to my birthday last month. She spontaneously showed up and got me a cake, the only friend that did anything for me on my birthday. Fast forward to this weekend I notice she just got out of a relationship as she is on Tinder and Hinge.
I couldn't help but send her a text and exchange a few messages but I just worry I am going to sink into that hole again of not having a chance. We clearly had some emotional and physical chemistry in the time we did spend together in the beginning for 2-3 months. I would do anything to make it work and win her over but I just don't think I can….I just want to. It is so hard because anytime I have met someone since I have compared them to her.
Any advice?
