Advice/own experience examples of getting to know your crush/asking out at work better?

I like this girl at work but in different departments. I’m struggling to have conversations with her besides when she asks where an item is in the store. Breaks are usually everyone just on their phones etc. Thinking complimenting something about her next time but trying to get to know her better naturally. I don’t really know her that well at all so I don’t really want to ask her for a drink yet until have some basic convos about life etc.
