I developed a crush on my now ex-professor when I was his student and I felt like he liked me too. We got close over the course of the semester as I regularly went to office hours and our conversations got more personal.
He offered to tutor me in the future if I ever needed it and he sent me an email when the class ended. I never ended up needing the tutoring but we somehow continued emailing each other, which eventually led to texting. We have a lot in common.
He asked me out for coffee (not as a date) but then the lockdown happened and we agreed to see each other once this is all over.
He’s been texting me ever since and he’ll keep the conversation going/ask me questions even when I give really short responses or a goodbye sounding text. He takes a long time to respond (sometimes days) but when he responds, he writes a lot and shows interests.
I did a little bit of digging and just found out he not only has a girlfriend, but they also live together and been together for 5 years… He NEVER mentioned her. He made it sound like he was single. He even told me he lives with roommates!! Wtf
I’m not sure what to think of this situation. It’s been 4 months since I’ve finished his class and we’ve been in constant contact since (I graduated after his class so I am NOT a student at the school anymore). I wouldn’t say his messages are flirty but he definitely shows some kind of interest (could just be platonic though). It’s very weird that he hid his gf from me and it makes me think that if he saw me as just a friend he would’ve mentioned her as to not lead me on. His intentions aren’t clear to me. I fell really hard for him and my gut feeling told me it was mutual but now I’m wondering if I was just projecting my feelings.
Could he just be seeing me as a friend or a romantic interest or something else?
Clarification: I’m not interested in being the other girl and I won’t be pursuing him romantically, however, we have a lot in common and I would still enjoy being friends. I don’t know if it’s right though
