TLDR: if I see friends or people I know on dating apps and I haven’t talked to them, I swipe right to say hi to them and hope they are doing okay in the pandemic. Quickly realizing that I probably shouldn’t be using dating apps to say hi. ?
TLDR says it all. So, long story short, I have been really involved in my community and among different circles—super involved. So, I usually just talk to people in person in coffee shops or other places, but because of the pandemic, and because I’m immunocompromised, I decided to give the good ole’ dating apps a whirl. Long story short, whenever I see someone who I used to be in contact with on the app (it’s happened around 30 times now ?), I usually match and check to see how they are doing bc we are in a pandemic. Most of the people that I know have been old friends from high school, college, grad programs, volunteer events, etc…
And… I don’t want it to be awkward because, well, I know they saw me on there and I saw them so— hahaha. Anyways, I am realizing that even though my app says “just looking for friends” folks on these apps are trying to date me. I’m also realizing that I’ve given up on dating, or maybe I’m not ready to date (just got out of a 5.5 year LTR), and I think I forgot how to date after my last relationship… no joke, what is flirting (just kidding, not really, but still)?? All this to say, I’m realizing that I’m probably the only weirdo that does this but thought I would post because I told my friends this and they couldn’t stop laughing. And yeah, I don’t recommend doing this.
