An expat returning to US who has quickly come to hate dating here….

Its been 7 years since I’ve dated in the US. Due to a job transfer back to the US + COVID19 locking down travel, I’m stuck here & I’m definitely remembering why I left.

Here are my expat observations:

People here really dehumanize each & seem very into playing games. Genuine connection and deep conversation based on profound passions don’t seem to be a thing here. People are additionally extremely narcissistic and nihilistic. There isn’t this genuine desire for poetry and spiritual depth like you’ll find in some other cultures, nor do I see this hope for a transcendently beautiful connection.

Romance in this country is like an Andy Warhol painting… zero depth. Damn I can’t wait to leave again….
