Quick bit of context, I just hit 30 last month and i am still a virgin, however I'm a virgin by choice(At least I like to think i am) I grew up watching things like maury and jerry springer, saw how my parents couldn't stand each other due to them marrying young, and would occasionally see pregnant students walking around in my high school.
So i chose to remain celibate and focus on improving myself before i even thought about dating, fast forward about a decade or so later, and now i seem to be getting bombarded with story upon story of dating gone horribly wrong, One sided relationships where one party thinks their very existence is enough in a relationship, and rampant infidelity to the point where my expectations of a faithful companion range from low to nonexistent to the point where I figure i might as well just have an open relationship right out the gate because expecting them to not sleep behind my back is apparently asking too much.
Honestly I'm not even very fond of the word love anymore, i find it rather empty and hollow and something anyone can just spout out but never really mean and tend to place more value in friendship and camaraderie. Hell i'd even go so far as to say if you truly love someone these days, the word marriage will never leave your lips……are my views overly cynical?
