As a single guy, I must admit: It would be nice if women actually made any kind of effort whatsoever out there in the dating world

I don't have any problems getting matches on dating apps. I don't have any problems engaging in or carrying on a conversation, but not to the point where I'm overbearing. I like getting to know new people, and can talk about just anything.

It would be nice to feel like my matches actually made any kind of effort whatsoever, though, and I say that with the utmost respect and not trying to put the emotional labor on anyone.

For example, it would be nice to be asked questions beyond how my day/weekend was, or basic surface level stuff such as what I do for work, or a question that I didn't already ask her first. Take interest in getting to know my interests in the same way I do yours, or anything really that will get to know the actual me better.

It would also help if conversations didn't feel like Q & A interrogation sessions where I get a response, but only if I ask a question. Why do the conversations always have to be like this? Why can't the conversations feel natural or organic? Why do I always need to choose the topic? Why can't we just converse off tangents? When someone messages you first and they sound excited to do, and want to tell you something, that feels really good and noticed, and is a good sign that my effort is being reciprocated.

It might also be of help if women could sneak a subtle compliment in there here and there, too. Guys basically have to reinvent the wheel each time they speak with a woman by saying something that's both respectful but also let's it be known that there's things about her that he likes. Meanwhile, I'm out here driving blind without any indication as to whether or not there's anything the matches are finding themselves drawn to. It'd help to feel noticed or acknowledged, because lawd knows that it's easy to get lost in the pool of single guys out there. We want to feel "pretty", too.

Again I say this all from a good place. I want everyone to be successful. Do this, and I am willing to bet that it will help you connect on a more meaningful level and also, will probably weed out the matches that aren't worth your time, too.
