I’m a guy in college and I recently had a date with a girl who recently graduated and is gonna be working two jobs over Summer and getting her own place away from parents soon and ultimately being a full-time teacher in Fall. Our first date seemed to go well and she texted me later about it being a great evening. We were supposed to get lunch tomorrow but she cancelled and said she’s in transition and juggling a lot and doesn’t want to add a person to the mix right now. She was nice and said I’ve made her feel special and that she’s sure we’ll be in touch. I was friendly and polite about it and said don’t be afraid to reach out if she feels different at some point and maybe we could see each other in a few weeks once she’s settled in more.

Yes, I know to not be attached and to be open to other options and all that. This post is more so about a general topic as opposed to a specific situation.

I had a girlfriend a few years ago and when we first met, she had just started her first semester at our university. She told me a few months after we started dating that she had considered not continuing our dating pursuit very early on because she was adjusting to the university and classes and all that. When we broke up some time later for a different reason, she thanked me for making the university “less scary”. This stuff just came to my mind while thinking about the more recent situation.

Women, do you ever avoid dating or end a dating pursuit because you were adjusting to big life changes or school or career stuff? Does that actually happen or is it more so a cover for lack of interest?

I personally hate the idea of logistical life stuff getting in the way of a great connection. I would never end things with a girl I really liked just because of adjusting to school or career or whatever.
