25F for reference. This has happened to me twice in like the past year and a half year. I talk to a guy for at least a couple months (once it went on for 9 months). After much talking with long flirtatious conversations, being told how much they like me, how much they miss me, how they haven’t been with anyone else in a long time and I’m so special, even after hanging out and getting pretty intimate, I find the guy has had a girlfriend almost the entire time, if not the whole time. Of course they drop off the face of the earth as soon they find out that I’ve caught onto the situation. I doubt the last two incidences were the only ones trying this on me, I’ve seen the signs before, just never confirmed. At 25 I’ve only had two relationships in my life, neither long lasting nor stable. It’s like no matter what I do I hit dead ends and/or run into jerks. I’d like to give up online dating entirely, but this happens with every site and approach I take, and I don’t know how else to meet people. I don’t have many reliable friends to help me, and with covid finding a good hobby to meet people through is even harder for me than usual.
