I’m so over texting games / dating games

So I’m 24 and I definitely am at an age where I am SO over the texting games/just games in general that people play when it comes to dating. I thought that upping my age range on dating profiles would be better just because the guys I would match with would maybe be more mature and done with the games. However, I find that they are STILL playing games. Is there an age where people are finally ready to take dating seriously and stop playing these games?

The chase is fun in the beginning and when I was younger but now I am sick of it. Honestly, I just don’t want to play these games anymore and really want to get to know someone without having to analyze their moves. I also find that when I talk to guys who are playing these games, I fall back into old habits of playing along and I don’t want to!

I mean I don’t know what the solution to this would be but it’s disappointing and I find playing games extreme taxing and draining. Am I the only one who is feeling this/ experiencing this?

“Exclusive but not official”

So a guy basically asked me to be exclusive but not be “official.” This is not the first time I’ve heard this phrase and I’m sick of it. I immediately said absolutely NOT.

This is NOT commitment. In the past and in my friends’ experiences, what ended up happening was the guy just wanted to make sure they weren’t sleeping with anyone else but it was okay for the guy to be sleeping with multiple people.

People may use that phrase because they are afraid of commitment. Heck, my friends have used it before and I’ve always questioned it. They said they want a relationship but wanted a loophole just in case they meet someone better. That’s AWFUL!

If you want a relationship, you should NOT put up with this. Know that exclusivity and commitment are two DIFFERENT things and if you want a committed relationship, you should inform them of that. Of course, if you are okay with a non-committed relationship, you do you.

But for everyone that is looking for commitment, make sure to ask for it to be official and question why they would prefer exclusivity instead of commitment. This will not only save you heartache down the road but it will help make your situation crystal clear.
