I’ve had enough experience by now to know that this person is truly special.

Same old tale though that for various reasons we can’t be together right now.

Someone said it’s like winning the lottery. You know you can’t win it again but you also can’t spend it right now, so you have to bury it. But the way you bury it can give you either peace or anxiety.

So, would like advice on the best way to proceed…

• maintain our special friendship – could lead to hurt down the line
• make some distance deliberately and aim for a “casual friendship”
• give it a break entirely, try and pick things up later when things have settled down

None of these seem particularly appealing but maybe you guys have a better solution 😉
