So I (24m) got out of a six year relationship about eight months ago and I’ve only ever dated that person so I have no experience with casual dating whatsoever.

About 2 months ago I asked out a girl from my work that I had only talked to a little and didn’t know super well but she seemed like a sweet girl. I thought she was about 20 but it turned out she was 18 turning 19 in a few months.

We exchanged numbers and talked a bit through text because I don’t see her much at work. I usually open the store and she closes. She scheduled the date for 12 days later, which was weird but she was busy with school I guess. But I even asked her if she was just being polite and she sed no, she wanted to go.

So we go out and have a nice dinner and I ask if she wanted to come over and watch a movie because we were talking about movies alot, I absolutely did not plan on making a move because she’s young and I wanted her to feel comfortable. (I did smoke some weed in front of her which was prob a bad idea) then ten minutes before the movie ended she started texting and got the classic “call from friends” and pretty much ran out of my house.

I waited a few days and asked if she would like to go out again and find a restaurant she liked more (because she didn’t like the Raman place we went to) she then replied with shes getting back with her ex and thought the age gap was too much, even though I asked her a few times if she was ok with it, and she sed it was. And that she didn’t like smoking, I also asked her if it was ok if I smoked.

Now a few months later I found out she’s going out with one of my coworkers who is the same age and also smokes.

I know I barley even started a relationship with her but this whole thing has made me feel like dogshit. And I don’t know what I should do. Ive had to work a lot more and I see her all the time which doesn’t help.

But the good news is I’ve tried to channel this into working out a lot more and even managed to quit smoking and weed completely after ten years smoking regularly.
