When does preference in dating become discrimination?

This has probably been asked many times before, but I feel like it’s a pretty important discussion to have.

As a 5′ 2” male Korean guy myself, I’ve had my fair share of jealousy and self-hatred in terms of dating. I’m 0/3 in terms of getting a date and I just turned 21, for context.

Up until recently, I’d been frustrated with a large portion of girls online (and of course the numerous statistics) that show that Asian men and short men are vastly unnoticed on the dating scene. I took this to heart and shouted “RACISM” and “HEIGHTISM” at the dating sky. But after thinking about it and watching videos on this subject, I got a new perspective. Of course, I still feel that I’m a poor combination of 2 unlucky dating attributes. But I realized I have my own biases as well.

My own take on this is that, you can have your preferences, your type, or whatnot, as long as you purposely keep yourself open. For example, you can say you prefer girls or boys with big noses, but you shouldn’t completely shut out anyone with small noses while looking for that special someone. As long as you don’t shut out an entire group, it’s OK.

But that’s my own take on it, feel free to discuss in the comments!
