Is it ok to be uncomfortable dating a transgender person?

I’ve never outright thought that I WOULDN’T date someone transgender, and I believe in their rights.

I found out around a year into the relationship from someone else (abstaining) that my girlfriend is transgender, which I do feel a little hurt about. Shouldn’t this be something mentioned before agreeing to date? I’m not angry or anything, I think im just a little confused. I don’t even know if I’m uncomfortable with the fact that she’s trans, or the fact that she just didn’t tell me. I believe that transgender people don’t owe this knowledge to random people, but how about a loved one in a committed relationship?

Another thing is that we’ve decided in the beginning to abstain until marriage (no roasts pls it was a personal decision on both ends). So would I just have found out after getting married?

I understand that telling someone must be insanely difficult and could take some time, and I’ve never been in their shoes so I don’t think I can understand. So should I be ok with it? What should I do?

What would you do if you found out someone you were dating for a year told you they’re trans?

Disclaimer: I’m honestly not sure what to think, and am unsure if this is insulting. So pls dont yell at me and educate. Thanks <3
