I (m26) met this girl (f24) on tinder around January, and we quickly got along incredibly well. However we live in different countries, I had no pressure and was just going with the flow since we would have probably never met. But after a month she came to my city, and after a late encounter we spent the night together. Afterward we continue texting, while everything is great we plan on meeting up and rent an airbnb in Germany.
However at the end of March, Germany closes its border, and we are stuck keeping it digital. But long story short I end up going to see her for a week in April ( because our respective countries luckily have the soft lockdown). The week goes great, we had a lot of fun and nice to get to know each other better.
But, she then tells me that she went out of a relationship less than a year ago, that she needs to heal from, as it ended badly. I was fine with it, until a week ago when I realised that while we were exclusive and it felt like a relationship, it wasn’t. And she then said that she needed time and was upfront about it (which it was, I just didn’t understood it) and she wasn’t sure when she would be ready and if she would like to be with me.
We just got off the phone, and while we realised that what we had was perfect, to be great friends understand each other and are as equally weird, it might be better to stop it has it is. And while this is incredibly heartbreaking, the lack of commitment that became more and more important for me was not something that she felt like doing. I respect that, and a part of me that initiated it is glad, but on the other side I am loosing someone that you don’t meet that often and rock your universe.
Everything is over, and I decided to cut things off for a few month, but I am not sure if waiting is an option and also it is devastating to miss somebody to have a great relationship with.
I don’t know what to do now
TL;DR : Girl and I like each other, she needs time, I don’t get it, and break things off because she needs time
