People "swiping abroad" in online dating

Can someone explain what the point of swiping in foreign countries is with online dating? It seems really strange to me. Like, would you be wasting people’s time if you’re matching with people on separate continents?

But Tinder encouraged it a few months ago. So I’m kind of wondering if there’s another rationale behind swiping in foreign countries during quarantine. We may all be stuck in our houses now, but surely we want to actually meet the person we’re dating eventually, so… what’s the purpose?

"Don’t expect that you can change your partner"/"you need to be willing to change for your relationship"…contradiction?

Anyone get confused by this? “Don’t expect to change your partner” and “you need to be able to change for your relationship” are both strands of advice that I hear quite a bit.

But…is this not at least somewhat contradictory? At the end of the day, are people supposed to change for their partners or not? Is the solution to be willing to change for your partner, but not expect the same in return? Could this not lead to unhealthy/unbalanced relationships?

When is expecting relationships to change people considered healthy?
