Has anyone else found the dating environment a bit awkward since the dawn of the Covid Era?
Recently I (28, M) matched with someone on Tinder (22, F) who only had her Instagram handle in her bio on tinder. You know the typical “follow me on IG (insert username)”. So I decided to shoot her a follow just to see what was up. Well shortly afterwards I got the notification that the follow request was accepted and that she followed me back! (good news). I decided I may as well shoot my shot since that was the entire point of it all, low and behold she had a witty response to my question. We shared pretty solid conversation via Direct Messages for a few days until I decided I would just drop my number and tell her if she felt comfortable texting me instead then she’s free too. I woke up the next morning to a text from her and we’ve had conversation ever since.
All of this sounds really good, but I have a feeling she’s not as interested me as I am in her. I will however say that today we were talking about the dating scene (ironically how awkward it is to try and date during this time) and she brought up the fact that a lot of people had hit her up on Instagram at the same time (to be expected, she is extremely beautiful) but she made sure to emphasize the fact that I am the only person she’s actually be been talking to.
I guess what I’m getting at is that I want to show that I am interested, but I don’t want to be overbearing. It’s pretty clear she is at least somewhat interested in me, or she would have either left my initial message to her unopened/on read, and she also wouldn’t have texted me if she didn’t want to talk.
How do I go about showing interest without being too overbearing or sounding desperate? I should also mention that she’s under quarantine currently as she tested positive for the virus or else I would have already asked her out for coffee, or otherwise. Anyone have any input?
