Hi all,
This girl and I follow each other on Twitter. I use Twitter professionally – I don’t really post anything personal or share my opinions on stuff. She and I work in the same field, but we don’t work together. She’s fairly local (next city). We’ve met in real life very briefly once, but we’re not friends and don’t really know each other. We’re both also in more or less full-on lockdown still. I’m starting to struggle with it and I know she is as well.
She recently posted on Twitter that she had been stood up on two virtual dates – she was understandably upset by it.
I would like to ask her if she’d like a virtual date. She is extremely attractive (well out of my league attractive). While I don’t know her well, what I do know about her I like.
I know girls routinely get unsolicited messages on social media from strangers (which I effectively am). I am conscious that asking someone on a virtual date online outside of dedicated dating platforms may be inappropriate, especially as I only use Twitter for professional stuff (she uses her’s for personal and professional use).
So, that’s my first question…is it inappropriate to ask?
Second question is, if I were to ask, what would be the most suitable way of doing it? I was thinking of just asking casually if she’d like a drink over a video chat platform of her choice at some point – doesn’t even have to be a date. Honestly I’d be glad just to talk to someone new.
Thanks all,
S_B
