At least I know the truth now. I (50M) went on several dates with this seemingly incredible woman (49F). We hit it off immediately and finally went on a mini vacation together. Everything seemed perfect. She claimed it was one of the happiest times of her life. We were in touch afterwards and she planned to meet me again. The next day … silence.

Up to that point she had been nothing but open and friendly but I realize everyone is allowed to be busy and have time for themselves. So I wasn’t worried. Next day she abruptly texts complaining about not feeling well. Again no problem. Her texts become short and sharp. Understandable. She says she’s under stress and suffering a medical condition. Okay, I get that. Then nothing for over a week. I waited patiently while she got things together.

So. After that long stretch of no communication I find her on Facebook with a new profile picture telling a completely different story. Worse, she’s back on a dating site after we’d agreed to be exclusive. There’s more but my post is already too long.

I’m beyond devastated. It may seem stupid but I was really in love with her and everything she said and did indicated that she felt the same. Why couldn’t she have been straight with me … instead of leaving me hurting and wondering what I did wrong.

Ghosting is beyond cruel. I wouldn’t wish it on anyone. If anyone can help with some advice on how to cope please go ahead.
