I’m 33/m and I’ve been single for 7 years. Although really I’ve been single my whole life since I have had one relationship my whole life. Dating just goes horribly. I’ve never gotten a reply on okc. All of my female friends have rejected me. The only women that did date me just didn’t even really know me. Nothing I’ve done has ever made me very attractive and I accepted that a long time ago.
I’ve asked for device but its all the same. “Be yourself.” “Wait for the right one.” “You need to love yourself.”. Everyone says I need to be happy on my own before I start dating. I don’t think I am completely happy since I think about being in a relationship all the time but I am getting happier on my own.
So I am wondering. If I go down this path, why date at all? Should I just think of getting a gf like riding a Tyranosaurus? Like I’d love to do it but its just an impossible thing that I shouldn’t worry about ever doing? And here is the thing. I’m starting to understand how much work, and sacrifice, there is in being in a relationship. I’m kicking ass at my job. I might move soon to a really fun city. And I am saving up for one of my dream cars. Like all things considered, my life is going on a really cool trajectory rn. The more I focus on that , the more I just enjoy things. It can’t help my dating life, since I don’t think I’d want to be with someone that like me because of these things, but it is helping my overall happiness.
I’m ready to just stop thinking about it and move on with my life. To some extent I already have.
