I’ll keep this short. I have been single for a very long time (26F). Coming up to 9 years with no significant long term relationship. II have been actively dating since moving to a new city about a year ago.

When I meet guys/potential partners and they probe me on why I’ve been single for so long, I just tell them the truth and say I wasn’t in a great place and therefore, wasn’t ready for a serious relationship. 9 times out of 10, they will jump to one of the following conclusions: a) I was sleeping around (it’s my body, so who gives a fuck?), b) I’m a prude (again, it’s my body) c) too high maintenance, d) was busy chasing after fuckboys.

I don’t get it. Am I putting out some kind of vibe here? Is it really hard to believe that a woman can stay single for a significant amount of time because she wanted to? Jeeeeesus fucking Christ.
