This was my first date ever and it happened a few months ago. So me and my date set up an outing to go to the cinema. We were supposed to watch a movie together, and then sit down at a cafe, drink some coffee and get to know each other. The movie we chose to watch Sonic (terrible movie btw) was supposed to start at 2pm. I got there early and waited for 30 mintues till my date showed up. They were late due to traffic and did call and apologize so it wasn’t a big deal to me.

We then watched the movie and all that. My date was frequently texting on their phone thoughout it and once the movie was over, They said that they’re off to meet some friends. Apparently all that texting was them setting up when they’ll be meeting their friends all while we agreed to sit down and talk (arguably the main point of a date). I just felt offended and immediately asked them why they had 2 plans for the night. They said that they’re very old, important friends. This just made me think that I’m their 2nd option. They just weighed the consequences and I was just not that important to them. They ditched me for their friends. We exchanged goodbye’s and that was it.

I stopped talking to them obviously. Unfortunately, we do go to the same uni and we’re in the same class but I haven’t seen them at all because of the whole corona thing. I’m not sure if i’m right to be mad about that or if what they did is considered normal. I don’t know. What do you guys think?

TLDR: Date ditched me for some old, important friends literally mid date.
