I decided to give Facebook dating a try on Thursday night. I setup a profile with some of the same pictures I’ve used for other dating apps and to my surprise I got 12 matches within 2 hours (7-9pm) with relatively conservative swiping.
All of a sudden, I felt like I could actually be myself and select people I was truly interested in. I was more patient with conversations, laid back, and relaxed. I no longer felt this desperate feeling of “omg, this is so important, because if I don’t find someone or I fuck this match up, I am going to be alone for my entire life.”. I was in control. I slept much easier that night and felt happy.
Then, the next 3 days roll by and here we are today on Sunday. I’ve literally only received ONE MORE MATCH. Yes, that’s right, ONLY ONE MATCH. How can it be possible that I received 12 matches in 2 hours, but only 1 match over the next 72 hours with most of that falling on the weekend? It simply isn’t possible based on the number of profiles I am shown on Facebook dating. There is something more going on here.
I believe Facebook has either significantly dropped my profile visibility for no reason whatsoever or only 10-15% of the profiles I am shown belong to active users. The rest may have quit Facebook dating, but Facebook just continue to show their profile. Again, based on the first 2 hours, I know it’s not ME. It simply could not be me based on the numbers.
What do you think is actually going on here?
