The title says it. I haven’t been alone as a single woman since high school. I have always settled for less than I deserve in relationships JUST because I was scared to be alone. Well, let me address that being alone does not necessarily mean that you will be lonely. I am a single mother that left an abusive relationship a little less than three weeks ago. I have been surrounded by friends and friends. I get lonely at night when I am alone in my bed, but I would rather be alone than mistreated.
To anyone that is looking to date, or in a relationship: DO NOT SETTLE A PERSON WITH RED FLAGS. Move on. Be alone. And eventually find someone else.
I’m glad I am not looking to date right now. It is uncomfortable being single. I don’t know how to be single anymore and I’m having to relearn. It is tempting to look for another guy to cling onto. However, I am pushing through the hurt, pain, and uncomfortableness in order to build ME again.
To all the people out there who are just getting out of a long relationship: Learn to be single again.
