Can’t shake the feeling that dating is hard/less fun that previous eras. Am I wrong?

I'm 22.

Does anyone older than me have an insight into whether things are getting harder/less dynamic and fun? I have this image in my head of pre-internet dating that seems so much more enjoyable. I get the feeling that people used to meet IRL more, there was more sex, there was more spontaneity. People are locked in cliques and groups, people seem more distrustul and cynical now.

The major online element of dating right now feels so hollow and impersonal.
