I’m female, turning 36 on Friday. The guy I’m seeing off and on is 34 and already has an 8 year old daughter.
So here’s the thing: I was diagnosed with polycystic ovarian syndrome when I was 19. Being young, not wanting kids at the time and enjoying the convenience of amenorrhea, never got it treated. Until I was 27 and a cyst got out of control. I’ve taken birth control ever since. However I was warned that I would likely have fertility issues and it was possible I may not be able to conceive and carry to term.
I do want to have kids but realize between my age and health it may not happen. I have not had this conversation with this guy, nor my last relationship which I think helped doom it. The way he talks I do think that’s what he wants as well (he makes a lot of “if you had kids” comments and talked about getting back into playing sports if he had a son).
What’s the best way to have this conversation?
