My coworker who I’ve become close with, sent me a card for my birthday and it was filled with references to convos we had and to things I like but nothing outright like I like you or care for you. He also got me a pc game I wanted. I’ve always had the feeling he liked me even though he’s always been very respectful and never overtly flirty. Little things like he’ll stare at me after a convo, we take our breaks alone together, or he’ll come to my side of the cube to give me a note or ask a question on top of us having a lot in common and sharing music and movies recommendations give me this idea. We get along well but he can be pretty reserved and seems like he wants to be around me but doesn’t always want to talk or will give short responses or kind just shrug, though he’s always pleasant to me so sometimes I’m sure he likes me and others times I think he thinks we’re just friends. I say this because it’s not like he’s always upbeat and it’s not always clear that he likes me but I don’t know if his own insecurities, anxieties, possible mental health issues etc or just feeling toward me. Basically, he can be very moody but is always polite to me. So what can I glean from this card? Could he like me and just didn’t spill his feelings in a card or should I take this as, he likes me as only a friend?
I’ve liked him for a while now and I kinda just want to tell him either way but I want to know should I wait until after quarantine when we get back into the regular groove of things or should I tell him now so if it’s a no, there’s some time away from him to regroup and not feel akward. I’m leaning towards waiting because convo has run scarce obviously under these covid conditions leaving me even more unsure of how he feels and I’m hoping if we get back to the office and I see how he is with me that maybe I can be more sure? Maybe with being less stressed he’d be more open to the idea of relationship?
