Difficulty dealing with being ghosted after 7 months

I [28F] was ghosted by the guy [30M] I started seeing back in October. I fell hard for him and things were great. When quarantine hit, he went back to his hometown about 2 hours away from the city. We talked every day and had made plans to see each other. Before quarantine hit he told me he also encountered some health problems he was dealing with.

Things began to fizzle late April when he began to flake on every meet up. Offering another date and time the day of. I made one final attempt in May and told him I would make dinner for us. The day of I asked if he was still good for dinner and no response. I sent a text a week later asking if he was ok and if he was holding up with his health problems. No response.

It's been a month since I've heard from him. He's still active on social media, posting, viewing all my posts/stories. He sent me a snapchat the other day – I didn't respond. It was his birthday the other day, so I foolishy sent him a happy birthday message on Instagram. He didn't even open it.

Obviously things are over but to go out like this is heartbreaking. He was the first guy in years I truly felt a connection with. I'm trying so hard to get over the fact he ghosted like this but my mental is taking a hit. I feel awful and my self worth/ego is bruised. I don't plan to reach out again. Just not sure how people can do this after that many months. Has anyone else been ghosted like this after months?
