Basically the title. To give a little more context, I (22F) got out of a pretty serious relationship about 8 months ago and I’m not really at a place where I want to jump in another one (because I want to be able to focus on myself/my career). However, I think I miss the closeness of having a SO.
I tried a few dating apps and I met someone who seems cool and has similar hobbies to me. We’ve talked in person a couple times and are at pretty similar places in terms of semi-recently leaving a past relationship and not looking for ones right now. He’s asked me if I want to be fwb, but I’ve never been in that type of relationship before. I guess my questions is do they work successfully and if so, what do you need to do to make sure neither party gets hurt?
Also, one reason why I’m hesitant is that honestly I’d probably date him for real if I were looking for a relationship right now and I’m not sure if that will complicate a fwb situation later on.
