I left a very long term relationship couple years ago and since then I’ve tried my hand at online dating. My goal was to initially have fun, fall in love and couple years down the road think about marriage. I’m not sure if I want kids, I’m not religious but I do want to build a meaningful life with the right person.
I have met tons of men who were all willing to go on multiple dates with me, overall treated me really well, seemed really into to me but at the 3 to 6 month mark they all “didn’t believe in marriage”, wanted to be with multiple partners or just wanted to casually hookup.
I tried my best not to respond to anyone that mentioned hooking up in their profile but ultimately it still lead to dates with people that were not serious about a long term commitment. It also feels weird to ask on the first couple dates about someone’s view on marriage without sounding like I’m moving too fast or trying to force the issue when I barely know them.
I met my previous long term partner while still in high school so I didn’t have much experience dating anyone else in my 20s. Did I just happen to meet men that are not looking for a life long commitment or are more and more men no longer looking to marry someone? Do I need to adjust my expectations?
