Don’t forget there are still people behind the phone

Online dating has given us a great advantage which is to connect to people and break the barrier that the outside world has . In real life when you want to approach someone you have thousands of second thoughts ( how am I going to do this . What I am going to say etc, what about if he/she doesn’t like me and rejects me ) . Instead with online dating apps everything is much easier: you are exposed to hundreds of profiles so you don’t just focus on one . Then when you match with someone you already know the other person is somehow interested and so it’s much easier to start a conversation . But that also is a negative for online dating apps , which is having too many options . Real life you are focused one or couple people that you wanna date, so you invest more time and listen more and try to focus on those people to impress them , online you jump to multiple conversations . Why I am saying this is that we somehow forget that there are still people behind the screen . It’s easy to jump from one person to another because you know you will get Match with someone else eventually, but if you do that if you stop talking to that person or are thinking to unmatch that person let them know it’s just a simple gesture don’t leave the person wondering . If we match and we don’t start a conversation and then you unmatch me I get it . If we start a conversation but you don’t seem enthusiastic and after couple exchanges you unmatch I get it . If we start talking and I make some stupid comments or push it too hard and you unmatch I get it . BUT if we talk and dive into deep conversation and we messages back and for and you seem enthusiastic and then suddenly you unmatch him/her I don’t get it and it’s painful . In that case I would appreciate a small message something like : Nice talking to you but I feel like we are not a good match . I think that’s worst than even going to a first date and then getting unmatched because on the date you may have a sense where this is going but here in that case no . In real life If I go out with someone and don’t feel we are clicking I let the other person know so he/she understands , but I am not immediately blocking the phone number . This was a simple thought I had after some personal experience . Let’s not forget there are people behind the screen and it doesn’t cost anything to send a simple message . In my personal example I was talking with this girl and we sent us messages back and for for the entire evening . Talking about my background her background places that she visited etc . Than she from nowhere asks me a weird question but important for her . I answer and she liked the answer and told me she is glad that I answered that way . We talk a little bit more we send emojis etc then she wishes me goodnight. I wake up in the morning she is still my match . I start working on my computer than when I take a break I go check if she maybe sent me a message and instead she was gone , unmatched.
