Flirting and making moves

I've got a bit of a problem and I'd love some advice. I've been trying OLD, and I get a lot of first dates. We usually click online and then when we meet up it goes nowhere, and she tells me I'm nice but there won't be another one. This happens about 9/10 times I meet somebody. I don't think this is a problem with my looks – I think I'm pretty good looking and I don't think my photos are misleading or anything like that.

But I do know I don't really flirt. It just feels like a weird thing to do! I don't want to be creepy. It feels like we're talking like friends and I've got an awful ulterior motive. When I convince myself (or on one occasion, somebody got impatient and pointed out) that we're here for the same reason, it just never feels like the right time. Now and again a woman will break the barrier and go for it, and once that's out of the way, everything is fine. I asked a friend about it and he told me to just ask if she wants to kiss me. But I think the problem is way before that point. It's not about being afraid to go for the kiss, there's just nothing there because we've been sitting around having a sterile conversation at a safe distance for 2 hours.

I know I'm probably overthinking it, but if I could just turn off the worry, I would. Does anybody else feel this way? Does anybody have any advice?
