Do you ever get frustrated when people tell you just to focus on yourself rather than attempt to date?
I’ve been single for close to five years, and I’ve grown a lot during this time period and have truly put myself first. I have a good group of friends, and I’m not lonely. Additionally, I’m not opposed to being single the rest of my life, but it would be nice to be in a relationship, of course with the right person.
I guess quarantine has just made me realize that I actually want and am finally ready to be in a relationship. I’ve tried dating apps (pre-Covid 19 and during Covid-19) and for the most part those encounters have pretty much gone nowhere, fizzling out. Or I just end up getting bored of the conversation or getting ghosted in the end. It’s just tiring. Granted, I am in grad school, which is time consuming, but I have the capacity to make time for someone because I’m not one hundred percent bogged down.
My friends mostly tell me to focus on myself right now, and I mean it makes sense since I have one year of grad school left. However, again I’m not lonely, but I don’t know how to be content with being single for now.
