So I have a FWB who I’ve been seeing for a few months. We agreed to be sexually exclusive but still allow each other to go on dates, etc, keeping everything casual. However over time he would start getting jealous if I was talking to other guys, and I admittedly would feel uncomfortable if I knew he was talking to girls so we had the “what are we” conversation. The thing is I’m not sure what I want, and neither is he, so we ended up dropping it. However few days later I had to bring it up again because it was always at the back of my head. Anyways he felt pressured about me asking and even though he says he doesn’t want to end things he is a lot more distant now. He hasn’t made any proactive contact to hang out this week and he’s been replying a lot slower. The thing is I would be okay without making it serious and moving on/seeing other people (obviously after quarantine). But since he isn’t talking to me much I feel like I’m stuck. I can’t see other people since we agreed to be exclusive but I don’t really get to see him either. What should I do? How can I bring up the topic in a way he doesn’t feel pressured and let him know I’m not looking to push things into “serious relationship” territory? I’m scared to have the conversation again because I think it’ll just make the feelings worse, but I also don’t want to proactively break up or end things because I do enjoy having him in my life.
I should add we were friends for a few years before FWB if that makes any difference.
