So, last week I met someone on a dating app and we got along instantly, had a lot in common and scheduled a date for that Friday.
Well, she invites me over Thursday, we do our planned date on Friday and she expresses interest in hanging out Saturday. I feel all three dates were very successful as we had sex and spent all night laughing, conversation flowed very naturally and nothing seemed forced.
She texted me after our date on Saturday to let her know if I find an earring she lost at my place. On Sunday, she was very distant and her responses were very different than usual, it was a very noticeable difference. I gave her space until around bedtime when I found her earring and texted her. I asked her if everything was okay and she replied, "I know you're looking for something down the line that resembles a relationship, but I don't know if I'm ready to commit to that and I don't want to string you along if that's something I can't do. I really like you ,I think we've really clicked and I'm surprised by all of this. This is an issue I need to work through and need a couple days to think. Can we schedule something this Friday to hang out?"
I was caught off guard because I had not asked to define what we had, nor do I feel I pressured her to. However we did have the "what are you looking for talk" and I told her I EVENTUALLY wanted a relationship in general. I thanked her for her honesty and assured her I wasn't the guy who wanted to be boyfriend/girlfriend after a few dates and I thought it was too soon to define what we had and I thought it was just casual/hanging out when we wanted to sort of thing. She said she appreciated that, just concerned that she won't want to commit if we ever reached that point because she enjoys her alone time "too much".
I've been giving her space the last couple days, only messaging her once a day to not seem like I'm ignoring her, but casual enough not to pressure her, like hey hope your day is going well. We usually have casual conversation, but once she stops responding, I let it go.
I've had multiple lady friends say that she probably got invested quick and now is getting cold feet. I guess I'm not sure what to think because the messages seem kind of all over the place. I guess by Thursday, I'm going to ask if we're still on for Friday and go from there.
