I met this girl on a dating app. We chatted for a few weeks, had loads of calls to the early hours and finally got round to meeting up.
We hit it off straightaway and were very intimate from the first date. We met up several more times over the next few weeks with a few sleepovers and general fun together. It felt like just the right balance of flirtiness – friendliness for a genuine connection. I’m not looking for anything specific and we didn’t get round to talking about the nature of the relationship… summer’s here… I was happy for it to continue on a casual basis and see what happens. She had initiated most of the contact and meet-ups so I assume she felt the same way.
But out of nowhere we’re having lunch together, she’s laying back on my legs and she tells me she doesn’t feel a connection and wants to break it off. Like wtf?! I send a text afterwards to say I respect how she feels and want to give her space. She sends a pretty basic reply that it was nice getting to know me and that’s that.
We didn’t chat for a week then I decided to drop her a message to see how she’s feeling and to ask if she wants to give it another shot/at least keep in touch. She says no; says she went with her gut feeling and is simply not interested anymore, good luck with everything and goodbye.
I’m deeply confused and depressed by this situation. How can someone burn bridges so easily? Could I leave it a while (weeks/months) and try to reconnect?
