I'll try to be brief. I (M19) had dinner alone with this girl (F18) in college back in March and it went pretty well with her even asking to do it again. We realized we have so much in common. Then, because of the virus, we had to move home so we have been snaping because I don't have her number. When we snap though, she takes a long time to open the snap, some times as long as a day. However, her responses are long, have emojis and exclamation points, and almost always ask questions. Because of this, we haven't had an immediate back and forth convo and mostly snaping intermittently. I mostly initiate but she has on a few rare occasions after periods of no contact.
A few days ago, I decided to try and escalate it by asking if she wanted to do a zoom call and after responding positively to a compliment she said, "However I do have to say that I really don't like zooming for face-timing haha I'm sorry, and I'm getting a little bit busy with my online class… so if its cool with you, I'd rather just snap chat!"
I initially took this as a rejection and was prepared to move on but some female friends said that I'm overthinking it, some people are just camera shy and that some girls worry abt how they look especially during this stay at home lockdown. I know that she is somewhat shy and introverted but I don't want to just make up an excuse when it is really lack of interest.
The only reason why I'm trying to keep this going is that she lives roughly an hour outside of NYC where I live so we could potentially see each other in person once this lockdown is lifted before college. I've snaped girls before who clearly don't want me to snap them and give really short curt responses. We are still snaping and her answer length and questions are still good. Just not her response time…
What are my next steps if I can't video call or see her in person? Try to get her number?
Right now I thinking of just putting it on the back burner, maybe try no contact and see if she initiates?
any insight would be appreciated
