Got rejected – But we’re still talking

So, I got rejected by a girl. Nothing much, probably, move on, they said.

The reason I was told that I was rejected, is that she has no feelings for me, but she did mention that we're compatible.

She gave me lots of signals, we even broke the touch barrier, it was to the point where even her family and friends thought that we were dating.

We have future plans to travel the world together, just the two of us, and even after rejecting me she still actively mentions that she is still interested on going on with it, knowing I have feelings for her.

Irony is, that she's currently dating someone else (after I got rejected), and I asked her why not go with her date instead, but she just told me she prefers me over him.

Plus, we are due for an overseas internship together next year, in which most probably we would live together, and honestly I don't want to give up the opportunity, not because of her, but because of the potential job opportunities that lie there.

She knows that she put me through this pain of rejection, and she feels gulity about it. She still talks to me till this day, being concerned about how I feel. To her I matter a lot (according to her), she treasures this friendship a lot.

Honestly, I don't know if I should just give up or not. Things seem to be working in my favour, but I don't know how this would work in reality.
