guys, reconsider saying that you won’t pay

Just started online dating and noticed a trend. I'm guessing it's not just me? Everything about the profile looks good until I come across something along the lines of "don't expect me to pay", "i'm not giving you money or gifts"

I' feel like there's a better way to say this? Cause saying stuff like this may make women who would have otherwise been interested not interested anymore. It comes off really cold and unendearing. I'm the type of person who is comfortable paying or not paying depending on what we are both comfortable with. I don't know if guys feel like they've been on too many first dates where they paid and nothing came out of it or what. Maybe think and reconsider your thoughts on this? I don't believe many women are going on dates just to get food, money or gifts so maybe don't make a point to suggest that. Just a thought.
