As said in the title. I'm a bit older (think 22-25ish), which made the lack of experience embarrassing at the time, so I tried to play it out as if it was "just another date". I could tell she knew I was inexperienced, but it still eats at me that other person doesn't realize how pivotal the few dates we had were on my life.
Maybe I'm romanticizing about the experience – the kiss wasn't that great (hence no longer communicating). I'm also in a more stable relationship at the moment, but still deep down I feel a small bit of emptiness, like my short "story" with her was never concluded.
I have a brief message worked out that I'd like to text her, and have gotten one click away from sending it multiple times. I've hesitated due to a couple fears:
-
she'll think I'm creepy/needy for reaching out after effectively ending communication.
-
she'll think I'm trying to arouse pity.
Because of this, my virtues are telling me any form of communication is inappropriate and I should just leave it be. On the other end, my gut is telling me that sending this couldn't hurt, and it comes from a position of courage to reach out and amend what should've been said the night-of if to accomplish nothing else but bring a little peace-of-mind.
To paraphrase the message I was planning to send:
Hey XXXX, I wanted to wait until I was in a stable relationship before sending this, and I'm not expecting a response. The dates we had in XXXX were my first. It was also my first kiss – not a great one on my part but still the first. I was a bit embarrassed being XXXX years old, having no experience under my belt, and generally not knowing what I was doing. You were very direct, which I appreciated.
So… is this worth acting on, or is it as inappropriate as I think?
