I (20 M) have had a huge crush on this girl (21 F) who I went to grade school and high school with. During high school, our families got really close and we consider them our closest friends. She and my younger sister (19) are really close and honestly I feel that might make me trying to be with her more difficult. We even rent a house at the shore together.
She dated this one kid from high school until last year (our sophomore year in college) so I never had much of a shot. Her family was not crazy about the relationship because they felt she was putting way more effort into the relationship. I always felt the same and even told her that shouldn’t settle for anything less than what she deserves.
Every time I’m with her, my heart beats out of my chest and I just can’t help but admire her. She is the most down to earth girl I know, especially considering how beautiful she is. I’ve learned to accept that she isn’t into me so I’m much more comfortable around her now. We’ve grown pretty close over the years and, ironically, I even go to HER about girls. She definitely trusts me and has told me very personal things but to me I feel she trusts me as a friend, not a potential partner.
I’ve been doing a great job of moving on from her and pursuing other girls, that is until quarantine came.
She’s all can think about. It doesn’t help that my dad continues to assure me that she’s waiting on me (I NEVER even told him that I like her). He always says how he and my mom started out as really close friends, he sees me and the girl the same way.
Once quarantine is over, I am going to step out of my comfort zone and not be insecure around her. Every time I’m not awkward with her we always have fun. My goal this summer is to finally tell her how I feel. I am expecting the worst, but it is time to get this burden off of my chest. Any advice of how I should do it?
