Started talking to this guy a few days ago. Let’s call him Jack (because I’m watching 30 Rock and he’s the one talking atm). Jack made a reference to one of my favorite shows and we seem to have things in common. He’s kinda funny to me but I don’t think it’s because he’s deliberately trying to make me laugh lol. It’s hard to explain but the part I’m having an issue with is that he talks to me as if he’s not interested. He can come off as monotone at times, I’m usually the one asking most of the questions and usually he doesn’t reciprocate the questions back.
For example, I asked him something a little more personal today and he said he didn’t want to dive into it. Totally understand and I said he didn’t have to share anything he didn’t want to. Then, Jack says that I haven’t given him much to work with. I asked him to clarify because I wanted to be on the same page. He then says “you haven’t told me anything about yourself.” ……
lol i just kinda felt like he didn’t care to know because he wasn’t asking anything to actually get to know me. So I said it’s because he hasn’t asked anything and that I’m usually a pretty open book if someone were to just ask. He responds with “Lol” …….
I’m getting a little annoyed at this point lol. So I asked him if there is anything he wanted to know. Jack responds with “Everything”.
This just kinda gives me the impression that he’s not really interested… Am i wrong? How should I proceed? Why do people do this? Its so confusing. Especially when I give him the opportunity to never speak to me again (e.g. the conversation just naturally dies – this has happened a few times), he always messages me the next morning or he’ll ask how’s my day been. Has anyone had to deal with someone like this? Any advice, tips, tricks?
