How directly and quickly do you move when chatting to someone online?

I consider myself to have pretty good profiles on dating apps, and the banter to back it up for the most part so I manage to get enough matches and usually get them talking…but within about 10-15 messages (or the first conversation “session” if you will) 90% disappear with no warning that the conversation was getting dry.

I know There is a trillion reasons why and it may have nothing to do with the quality of our conversation but I can’t help but feel like if I bit the bullet and asked for their number immediately I’d have had saved a few leads – even though that mega direct approach isn’t really my style.

I’ll generally ask to get their number after sending 20 or so messages depending on the vibe we seem to have of course – but is this too slow given how fast paced online dating moves, or am I just not matching with the right girls for me?
