How not to text

This real-life example just happened to me on an app. This is an opening conversation.

Him: Hi, how are you?

Me: Just got home from work. Might play some Nintendo. How are you?

Him: Good, you?

Please actually read and respond to what the other person is saying, and ask follow up questions. I would have been okay with “how was work?” or “Cool what games do you play?”. I literally gave him topics to chat about. If those topics don’t interest you, at least address them, then ask me another question.
