After getting back into the dating scene it feels like you have to do everything super fast in order to not lose the girl to the next guy in line. This makes it seem like if you don’t ask a girl out on a date a few days after meeting them you’re essentially screwed. In the past, I’ve always followed this “process” before even thinking about going on a date. The process I’ve tried to follow for dating someone has always been:
-
Establish in person rapport
-
Exchange contacts (social media/phone number)
-
Continue to talk in person while also texting/communicating daily
-
Take them on a date once you know there’s mutual interest, usually 3-5 weeks after step 1.
Recently, I’ve seen some advice thrown around that you should ask someone on a date almost as step 2.5 (according to the process noted above). However, it feels very weird to me to ask someone on a date when you barely know them and you don’t even know if they like you back. Nowadays are people skipping the texting/talking phase and just instantly going into dating, or is it still preferable to take things slow? I know that some people get turned off by texting, but I feel like that 1-3 week texting/talking stage is necessary so you really know if you’re into them or not.
